Overview

The IKAA Gathering 2007 Planning Committee is excited to present you with a diversified program that includes activities reflecting the broad range of interests and experiences within the adoptee community. Each of the IKAA member associations will host a part of the program, but smaller organizations or sub-networks are also invited to make presentations during the conference days.

The IKAA Gathering 2007 program is the product of collaboration between the IKAA organizations and has been created with both first-time Gathering attendees and veteran participants in mind, focusing more on contemporary Korea than the traditional Korea usually presented at Gatherings and conferences. Highlights of the program include an Adoptee World Cup (soccer), a research symposium, contemporary Korean fashion show, PC online gaming, ARTgathering (expressions of contemporary art), family activities, workshops, and an official Gathering party.

Some workshop sessions will be open only to adoptees, maintaining levels of support and comfort among others who share in the adoption experience, but spouses/partners will be welcome at a number of other sessions and events.

The children of adoptees will also be welcome at the Gathering 2007 and there will be special programs for families, including sightseeing tours and cultural events. Daycare will also be available for parents who wish to attend the sessions that are open to adoptees only.

In consideration of the importance of the social aspects of the Gatherings, the IKAA Gathering 2007 Planning Committee has arranged for a number of various social events, including concerts, evening activities, performances and informal, nightly social meetings at local bars.

Due to space limitations, some activities will require participants to sign up in advance; registration emails will be posted under each activity and registration for individual activities and events (this registration will only be permitted after their official Gathering registration has been completed). Registration for the IKAA Gathering 2007 and incorporated events and activities will be available on a first come, first serve basis.
