IT IS NO LONGER POSSIBLE TO BUY THE PHONES VIA IKAA (July 15th)

We have made arrangements for IKAA Gathering 2010 Participants for Pre-Paid Cell Phones in Korea, with service provided by SK Telecom. Phones will be available for pick-up on site at the Lotte Hotel and will come pre-loaded with KRW 30,000 and ready for immediate use. The phone is yours to keep, so if you ever plan on returning to Korea, you can easily reconnect or recharge it at any SK Telecom store.

There are also 2 phone models available at an additional cost of USD 9 that have, among other features, a Korean-English Dictionary on them. If you purchase a phone, you may specify the model and color you would like, however this will not be possible if you will be receiving a free phone.

Cost -- This amount must be paid by PayPal and KRW 30,000 will be put onto your phone's pre-paid balance in Korea:

FREE PHONE: USD 27 (including handling cost)

OTHER PHONE: USD 36 (including handling cost) -- Don't forget to specify the model number and color when you email directory@ikaa.org!

The calling rates are as follows (in Korea):

KRW 10,000 is 49 minutes of talk time
KRW 20 per SMS / text message
ALL INCOMING CALLS AND TEXTS ARE FREE 

Gathering participants wishing to take advantage of this offer must do so no later than Wednesday, July 14, 2010.

We need:

  • A scanned image of the photo page of your passport (your name and the passport number MUST be legible)
  • A current email address
  • Payment of USD 27 / USD 36 (If you are purchasing a phone, we also need your desired model # and color.)

Passport Photo Page: Please send the scanned image of this page to directory@ikaa.org with "Cell Phone" in the Subject.

Payment: Payment for Cell Phones can ONLY be made via PayPal:

It is possible to pay by credit card through the PayPal account.

Once you have created your PayPal account:

  1. Go back to the IKAA Gathering 2010 website
  2. Click here for FREE PHONES "Free Phone Registration" or here for PAID PHONES "Paid Phone Registration"
  3. Log in to your IKAA account
  4. Place your order
  5. VERY IMPORTANT: After you have completed your PayPal payment, YOU MUST CLICK "Return to IKAA Gathering 2010" to finalize the registration.

TERMS AND CONDITIONS

The IKAA Gathering Committee has arranged access to pre-paid Korean cell phones for Gathering participants. Registration, including payment and a copy of the participant’s passport photo, must be submitted by Wednesday, July 14, 2010. If these are not completed by the deadline, you will not be guaranteed a cell phone.

Cell phone purchases are subject to limited availability on a first come, first served basis.  Cell phone registrations are not considered complete until both payment and passport photo have been received. Prior to July 15, 2010 refunds must be requested in writing or by email to directory@ikaa.org and are subject to a $5 processing fee per cell phone.

There will be designated times and places for participants to pick up their phones, both prior to the Gathering and during General Gathering Check-In/Registration. Individuals who choose to take advantage of this offer will be informed of possible dates and times to pick up their phone and individuals must pick up their own phone. IKAA will not be held responsible for phones that are not retrieved. If you have a specific scheduling issue, please email directory@ikaa.org.
